The Cold War resulted directly from a specific nation tension in WWII. The two superpowers U.S. and the Soviet Union were struggling to keep peace and took head lead in the Cold War. The biggest dispute between these powers was Capitalism and Communism. The U.S. advocated and spread capitalism, while the Soviet Union went with communism. Winston Churchill coined a term for this division as the "Iron Curtain." Many plans and organizations were created during this time, such as the Truman Doctrine, Marshall Plan, NATO, Warsaw Pact,etc. The U.S. supported for Communist containment, which Soviets resulted back with two counter-strategies. Berlin was another city which took the toll of this tension with east and west separation. The Berlin Wall was another fortification that built up stress. Over in Korea, the same political parties where at War during the Korean War splitting them in to North and South Korea. Nuclear Weapons were constantly a threat to humanity and this threat grew in the Cold War. The Cuban Missile Crisis was the epitome of the problem with Soviet interference in the Western Hemisphere. The role of women and Civil Rights specifically to blacks was another dilemma that was in dissension. India was another dismantled region desperate for independence. The tensions of Hindus and Muslims deepened which lead to the creation of Hindu and Pakistan. In the Middle East, Arab nationals and revolutionary Jews disputed over Palestine and the creation of the Israel. In Egypt a leader called Nasser managed to successfully defend Egypt, from the superpowers. A problem then occurred in Vietnam with communism and the French which lead to the division of North and South Korea in the Geneva Conference. Vietnam also provided a cold war stalemate. One of the last areas still in major colonial control was Africa. The Algerian War cleared the French out of Africa and Black African nationalism took care of the rest.
